Look Beneath the Surface

Today's Scripture

“Look beneath the surface so you can judge correctly” (John 7:24).

Today's Word

We don’t realize how many times we look at someone, and in a split second, we decide if we’re going to like them or not. The scripture says that man looks at the outward appearance of others while God looks at the heart. Now, you might be thinking, “Of course, God looks at the heart, He’s God. How am I supposed to look at another person’s heart?”

You may not exactly know a person’s heart, but as Jesus said in this verse, you can look beneath the surface. You can take time to get to know someone who might look or act differently than you. Don’t just write them off because they don’t measure up to your standards. You never know how God will use the relationships in our lives.

Jesus said whatever you’ve done to the least of these, you’ve done to me. In other words, when we make quick judgments about people, it’s as if we are making quick judgments about God. Don’t let that be you. Look beneath the surface. Look for the good in others and find some common ground. Before you know it, you’ll be living to bless others the way Jesus commanded.

A Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, help me to look beneath the surface. Help me to see others the way You see them. Help me to make righteous decisions in every area of my life. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

One More Time

Today's Scripture

“When He had finished speaking, He said to Simon, 'Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish' " (Luke 5:4).

Today's Word

Several times in Peter’s life, Jesus asked him to go the extra mile, to toss his fishing net over the other side of the boat—one more time. And these fishing nets weren’t small. They weren’t easy to move from side to side. They were very heavy. Peter was reluctant, but he did it anyway because Jesus asked him to, and the results were amazing.

It’s easy to get tired and discouraged when you’ve tried and tried and aren’t seeing the results you had hoped. But, when you hear the voice of the Master deep down inside saying, “Try it again,” know that things are about to change. It may be hard. It may not make sense. You may be tired, but that “one more time” can be the breakthrough you’ve been waiting for!

When everything and everyone else says it’s time to give up, that’s when it’s time to go with God. When you obey Him, He’ll take the impossible and turn it into a miracle. You can trust that God is ordering your steps. He’s taking you down a path of victory and increase. Just like Peter, you’ll be amazed at what will happen when you follow His commands, just one more time!

A Prayer for Today

Father in heaven, I choose today to follow Your commands, even when things seem difficult. I know that Your words bring strength, life, and blessing, and I will serve and honor You all the days of my life. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Set the Blessing in Motion

Today's Scripture

“Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back” (Luke 6:38).

Today's Word

God is a god of abundance! He wants to pour out His abundance on you until you are so full that you are running over with His goodness. And notice how this verse starts. It says, “Give, and it will be given to you.” Your giving sets the blessing of God into motion in your life. Giving is like a seed. When you plant an apple seed, it doesn’t just grow a single fruit. That one seed grows into a tree that produces an abundance of apples!

That’s what happens when you obey God in your giving. You receive an abundant harvest in return. It’s overflowing, literally “running over”! And when the blessing is running over, it means you have so much that you want to give more. The cycle just keeps repeating itself! Is there something the Lord is telling you to give today? It could be financial, material, or even your talents and service to others.

What do you have in your hand that you can use to bless someone else? Take a step today and set the blessing of God into motion in your life. Open the door for His blessing to be running over in every area of your life today!

A Prayer for Today

Father in heaven, I choose to obey Your Word. I choose to be a tither and a giver. I choose to give to others knowing that You will use me in a greater capacity in return. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Declare Your Freedom

"You have been set free from sin..." (Romans 6:18).

Today's Word

Today we celebrate Independence Day in America. July 4, 1776 was the day America declared independence from Britain, but the battle for freedom went on until 1783—seven years later. Even though they declared their freedom in 1776, they had to stand and fight for many years before the British would accept and recognize the United States of America.

In the same way, we have to be determined to stand against the opposing forces in our lives. We have to declare our freedom from addiction, poverty, sickness and lack. We have to stand and fight until we fully experience that freedom and peace that God has promised. I love what the early colonists did once they signed the Declaration of Independence. They read it out loud in public. They published it in the newspaper. They spread the word. They continued to declare and celebrate even though they were in the midst of the battle. Whatever battle you may be facing today, declare that you are free. Declare that you are an overcomer. Celebrate the victory that is on its way! As you stand strong and declare your freedom, you will experience His victory and you will live in true freedom all the days of your life!

A Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, thank You for setting me free in every area of my life. I declare today that nothing can hold me back. I declare that I am free from sickness, poverty, lack and addiction. I declare that You have set me free and thank You for freedom in every area of my life. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Avoid Strife

Today's Scripture

“ It is an honor for a man to cease from strife ” (Proverbs 20:3)

Today's Word

Strife is a very destructive force. It can creep into relationships by starting small, maybe through a comment or a wrong look from someone, and can then escalate into something much bigger. But when you choose to cease from strife and overlook an offense, you are acting honorably, and you are honoring God. How do you avoid strife? The Bible tells us that love covers over many offenses. It means that you give people the benefit of the doubt. You consider what they may be going through over how they reacted to you. Maybe someone was short with you at the office, but they may have a loved one in the hospital, or they may have some other concern. Instead of getting upset, walk in love—be patient, be kind to them. Choose to avoid strife. Look for ways to walk in unity with the people in your life. The Bible says that He has commanded the blessing when we walk and live in unity. Choose unity today and watch the hand of the Lord move mightily on your behalf!

Father God, today I choose Your ways. I invite Your plan to unfold in my life. Help me to avoid strife so I can walk in peace and unity and honor you all the days of my life. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

The Place of Blessing

“Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah: Leave here, turn eastward and hide in the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan. You will drink from the brook, and I have ordered the ravens to feed you there” (I Kings 17:2-4).

Today's Word

As a child of the Most High God, your steps are ordered by Him. He has a specific place of blessing prepared for you. When you live a life of obedience to the Word of God, He promises to supply every one of your needs. Just as God directed Elijah to his place of blessing, God is directing you, too. He’s aligning the right opportunities for you and causing the right people to come along your path to help you get ahead. He’s constantly working behind the scenes on your behalf. But you have to do your part to keep your heart open by following His Word and keeping an attitude of faith and expectancy. A major key to keeping your heart in the right place is choosing peace and unity. The Bible says that when we live in unity, there He has commanded the blessing. And when your heart is in the place of blessing, the rest of your life will be in the place of blessing, too!

Heavenly Father, I come to You with a grateful heart. Thank You for leading me and directing my steps. Help me to see others the way You see them so I can honor You and live in unity all the days of my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Completely Satisfied

“Blessed, fortunate, happy and spiritually prosperous…are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, uprightness and right standing with God, for they shall be completely satisfied” (Matthew 5:6 AMP).

Today's Word

God longs to pour out his abundant blessing on every area of your life. He wants you to live completely satisfied. When you hunger and thirst for righteousness--God’s way of doing things--then you will live in complete satisfaction. You direct your hunger by choosing what you focus on. For example, if you focus on your favorite food, if you start thinking about it early in the morning, and all throughout the day, chances are, by the end of the day you’ll be eating it! What you give your attention to, you will desire. In the same way, the more you give your attention to God and His Word, the more you will hunger for Him. Just like the scripture promises, when you hunger for righteousness, you will be completely satisfied. The world offers so many things for you to give your attention to, but they aren’t things that will satisfy. You might think you want a particular car, or certain clothes, or live in a particular neighborhood. There’s nothing wrong with those things, but understand that “things” won’t ever satisfy you. Recognize that only God will satisfy you. As you hunger for Him, you’ll live in peace and blessing and live completely satisfied all the days of your life!

A Prayer for Today

Father in Heaven, I come to You today, I ask for forgiveness for allowing anything to capture my heart and attention more than You. I choose today to give You top priority, and choose to hunger for Your righteousness. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Victory is On the Way

Today's Scripture

“Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all” (Psalm 34:19).

Today's Word

Everyone goes through seasons of difficulty and challenge in life. One of the enemy’s traps is to isolate you and convince you that you won’t make it. But God promises that He will deliver the righteous out of all of their afflictions. You are righteous because of your relationship with God through Christ Jesus. You are righteous simply by having faith in Him, His goodness, and the promises in His Word. If you’re going through a tough time today, keep an attitude of faith and expectancy. Declare His promises over your life. You are more than a conqueror through Him! The joy of the Lord is your strength! As you continue to stand, even during the difficult times, you can be assured that victory is on the way. It might be today…it might be next week…next month, or next year, but God is faithful! Through faith and patience, you will inherit the promise. You will get beyond your difficulty, and you’ll increase in wisdom and strength and live the abundant life He has for you!

Keep Sowing

“As long as the earth remains, there will be seedtime and harvest” (Genesis 8:22).

Today's Word

God loves you so much, and He wants you to live in abundance in every area of your life. In the book of Genesis, in the very beginning, He established a system for increase. Everything in life operates off of seedtime and harvest. As long as you have seed, you have increase in your hand. But a seed will lay dormant until it is placed in the right conditions. You have to plant that seed and water it in order for it to grow. What are the seeds you have in your hand? It can be as simple as the seed of a smile that will produce happiness in your life. It can be a financial seed that will produce provision in your life. Give and it shall be given back to you in greater measure. The Bible says that God’s Word is water and when you speak the Word, you are watering your seeds. Ask the Lord today to show you what seeds you have in your hand. He’ll show you where to plant them, and He’ll watch over those seeds to produce an abundant harvest in every area of your life!

Ask For Wisdom

“If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him” (James 1:5).

Today's Word

Do you need wisdom for something today? Ask God. He loves it when you call upon Him, and He longs to give generously to you. Do you need wisdom to lead your family? Do you need wisdom on your job? Do you need wisdom for a decision you have to make in life? Ask God! The next verse goes on to say that when you ask, you must ask in faith without wavering. That means you have to be absolutely determined to get your answer from Him. You can’t just ask and then decide to do things your own way, or doubt that He will give you the answer. That’s being double-minded. When you’re double-minded, the Bible says you won’t be able to receive anything from the Lord. Don’t let that be you! Have a one-track mind that’s focused on God and His promises. Believe that He is going to generously bless you with His wisdom. As you keep an attitude of faith and expectancy, He’ll cause you to rise higher and higher, and you’ll live the abundant life He has in store for you!

New Garments

“Provide for those who grieve…a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor” (Isaiah 61:3 NIV).

Today's Word

Do you need a new garment today? I’m not talking about a physical garment. I’m talking about what’s covering your mind and emotions. Are you clothed with despair and disappointment? Are you wearing “heaviness”? If you’ve gone through a hurtful situation, the Bible says there is a time to grieve, and it’s important to release that hurt to the Lord. But the Bible also tells us that God wants to give you a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. You can put on a garment of praise instead of a heavy, burdened spirit. What’s holding you back today? Are the garments of yesterday weighing you down and holding you back? The garment of praise is light and filled with peace and joy. Don’t carry those heavy burdens around anymore! Today is the day for new garments! Forgive those who have hurt you and begin to praise Him! Thank God for life today. Thank Him for the beautiful sunrise. Thank him for restoring you, even if you don’t see it yet. And this verse says, you will be called an oak of righteousness, strong and secure, and you will display the splendor of the Lord all the days of your life!

Heavenly Father, I come to You today and ask that You take off my old, heavy garments of despair and heaviness. Make me new today. Give me a garment of praise so that I can be a display of Your glory and splendor. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Safety in Numbers

“Where no wise guidance is, the people fall, but in the multitude of counselors there is safety” (Proverbs 11:14).

Today's Word

Are you facing an important decision today? God wants to give you the answer. He wants to direct your steps. Many times, He will speak to us through the people He has placed in our lives. The Bible says that safety is found in a multitude of advisors. God designed us to live in families, communities, and congregations. We need to be open to receiving input from the people who are close to us. That doesn’t mean you have to follow everything everyone tells you, but if you’re in a particular situation or relationship, and all the people around you are giving you the same word of caution, it might be God trying to get a message to you. Take that advice and bring it before the Lord in prayer. Ask Him to confirm His perfect plan to your heart. Remember, wisdom comes from God, and wise counsel will always be in agreement with God’s Word. He will always confirm the answer when you ask Him. What ever you are facing today, be open to receiving wise counsel. As you do, you will be blessed and protected and walk in confidence down the path the Lord has prepared for you!

Heavenly Father, thank You for the people You have placed in my life as wise counsel. Help me understand Your truth so that I can make Godly choices. Keep me close to You always. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

He Places the Solitary in Families

“He places the solitary in families” (Psalm 68:6).

Today's Word

Most everyone goes through times in life when they feel a little lonely or wonder where they belong. God designed family to always be a place of love and acceptance. Maybe you didn’t come from an environment like that, or maybe you’ve been away from your family. Maybe they are no longer around. God still desires to meet that need for family. The Bible says that He is the Father to the fatherless, and He places the solitary in families. God wants to give you a circle of people you can trust who will embrace and accept you. If you need family today, ask God to meet that need and show you where you belong. Or maybe you are the one who can open your home and heart to someone who is alone. The point is God loves family. He designed family for a purpose. Jesus said in Matthew 12 that those who do God’s will are His family. When you are part of the family of God, you are never alone! He promises to never leave you or forsake you. He promises to fill you with His peace and joy so that you can live as an overcomer all the days of your life!

A Prayer for Today

Father in heaven, thank You for showing me Your design for family. Thank You for accepting and embracing me always. Show me how I can reach out and be an example of family in someone else’s life. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Delapan Kebohongan Seorang Ibu Dalam Hidupnya

Dalam kehidupan kita sehari-hari, kita percaya bahwa kebohongan akan membuat manusia terpuruk dalam penderitaan yang mendalam, tetapi kisah ini justru sebaliknya. Dengan adanya kebohongan ini, makna sesungguhnya dari kebohongan ini justru dapat membuka mata kita dan terbebas dari penderitaan, ibarat sebuah energi yang mampu mendorong mekarnya sekuntum bunga yang paling indah di dunia.

Cerita bermula ketika aku masih kecil, aku terlahir sebagai seorang anak laki-laki di sebuah keluarga yang miskin. Bahkan untuk makan saja, seringkali kekurangan. Ketika makan, ibu sering memberikan porsi nasinya untukku. Sambil memindahkan nasi ke mangkukku, ibu berkata : "Makanlah nak, aku tidak lapar" ---------- KEBOHONGAN IBU YANG PERTAMA

Ketika saya mulai tumbuh dewasa, ibu yang gigih sering meluangkan waktu senggangnya untuk pergi memancing di kolam dekat rumah, ibu berharap dari ikan hasil pancingan, ia bisa memberikan sedikit makanan bergizi untuk petumbuhan. Sepulang memancing, ibu memasak sup ikan yang segar dan mengundang selera. Sewaktu aku memakan sup ikan itu, ibu duduk di sampingku dan memakan sisa daging ikan yang masih menempel di tulang yang merupakan bekas sisa tulang ikan yang aku makan. Aku melihat ibu seperti itu, hati juga tersentuh, lalu menggunakan sumpitku dan memberikannya kepada ibuku. Tetapi ibu dengan cepat menolaknya, ia berkata : "Makanlah nak, aku tidak suka makan ikan" ---------- KEBOHONGAN IBU YANG KEDUA

Sekarang aku sudah masuk SMP, demi membiayai sekolah abang dan kakakku, ibu pergi ke koperasi untuk membawa sejumlah kotak korek api untuk ditempel, dan hasil tempelannya itu membuahkan sedikit uang untuk menutupi kebutuhan hidup. Di kala musim dingin tiba, aku bangun dari tempat tidurku, melihat ibu masih bertumpu pada lilin kecil dan dengan gigihnya melanjutkan pekerjaannya menempel kotak korek api. Aku berkata :"Ibu, tidurlah, udah malam, besok pagi ibu masih harus kerja." Ibu tersenyum dan berkata :"Cepatlah tidur nak, aku tidak capek" ---------- KEBOHONGAN IBU YANG KETIGA

Ketika ujian tiba, ibu meminta cuti kerja supaya dapat menemaniku pergi ujian. Ketika hari sudah siang, terik matahari mulai menyinari, ibu yang tegar dan gigih menunggu aku di bawah terik matahari selama beberapa jam. Ketika bunyi lonceng berbunyi menandakan ujian sudah selesai, Ibu dengan segera menyambutku dan menuangkan teh yang sudah disiapkan dalam botol yang dingin untukku. Teh yang begitu kental tidak dapat dibandingkan dengan kasih sayang yang jauh lebih kental. Melihat ibu yang dibanjiri peluh, aku segera memberikan gelasku untuk ibu sambil menyuruhnya minum. Ibu berkata : "Minumlah nak, aku tidak haus!" ---------- KEBOHONGAN IBU YANG KEEMPAT

Setelah kepergian ayah karena sakit, ibu yang malang harus merangkap sebagai ayah dan ibu. Dengan berpegang pada pekerjaan dia yang dulu, dia harus membiayai kebutuhan hidup sendiri. Kehidupan keluarga kita pun semakin susah dan susah. Tiada hari tanpa penderitaan. Melihat kondisi keluarga yang semakin parah, ada seorang paman yang baik hati yang tinggal di dekat rumahku pun membantu ibuku baik masalah besar maupun masalah kecil. Tetangga yang ada di sebelah rumah melihat kehidupan kita yang begitu sengsara, seringkali menasehati ibuku untuk menikah lagi. Tetapi ibu yang memang keras kepala tidak mengindahkan nasehat mereka, ibu berkata : "Saya tidak butuh cinta" ----------KEBOHONGAN IBU YANG KELIMA

Setelah aku, kakakku dan abangku semuanya sudah tamat dari sekolah dan bekerja, ibu yang sudah tua sudah waktunya pensiun. Tetapi ibu tidak mau, ia rela untuk pergi ke pasar setiap pagi untuk jualan sedikit sayur untuk memenuhi kebutuhan hidupnya. Kakakku dan abangku yang bekerja di luar kota sering mengirimkan sedikit uang untuk membantu memenuhi kebutuhan ibu, tetapi ibu bersikukuh tidak mau menerima uang tersebut. Malahan mengirim balik uang tersebut. Ibu berkata : "Saya punya duit" ----------KEBOHONGAN IBU YANG KEENAM

Setelah lulus dari S1, aku pun melanjutkan studi ke S2 dan kemudian memperoleh gelar master di sebuah universitas ternama di Amerika berkat sebuah beasiswa di sebuah perusahaan. Akhirnya aku pun bekerja di perusahaan itu. Dengan gaji yang lumayan tinggi, aku bermaksud membawa ibuku untuk menikmati hidup di Amerika. Tetapi ibu yang baik hati, bermaksud tidak mau merepotkan anaknya, ia berkata kepadaku "Aku tidak terbiasa" ----------KEBOHONGAN IBU YANG KETUJUH

Setelah memasuki usianya yang tua, ibu terkena penyakit kanker lambung, harus dirawat di rumah sakit, aku yang berada jauh di seberang samudra atlantik langsung segera pulang untuk menjenguk ibunda tercinta. Aku melihat ibu yang terbaring lemah di ranjangnya setelah menjalani operasi. Ibu yang keliatan sangat tua, menatap aku dengan penuh kerinduan. Walaupun senyum yang tersebar di wajahnya terkesan agak kaku karena sakit yang ditahannya. Terlihat dengan jelas betapa penyakit itu menjamahi tubuh ibuku sehingga ibuku terlihat lemah dan kurus kering. Aku sambil menatap ibuku sambil berlinang air mata. Hatiku perih, sakit sekali melihat ibuku dalam kondisi seperti ini. Tetapi ibu dengan tegarnya berkata : "Jangan menangis anakku, aku tidak kesakitan" ----------KEBOHONGAN IBU YANG KEDELAPAN.

Setelah mengucapkan kebohongannya yang kedelapan, ibuku tercinta menutup matanya untuk yang terakhir kalinya.

Dari cerita di atas, saya percaya teman-teman sekalian pasti merasa tersentuh dan ingin sekali mengucapkan : " Terima kasih ibu ! " Coba dipikir-pikir teman, sudah berapa lamakah kita tidak menelepon ayah ibu kita? Sudah berapa lamakah kita tidak menghabiskan waktu kita untuk berbincang dengan ayah ibu kita? Di tengah-tengah aktivitas kita yang padat ini, kita selalu mempunyai beribu-ribu alasan untuk meninggalkan ayah ibu kita yang kesepian. Kita selalu lupa akan ayah dan ibu yang ada di rumah.
Jika dibandingkan dengan pacar kita, kita pasti lebih peduli dengan pacar kita.. Buktinya, kita selalu cemas akan kabar pacar kita, cemas apakah dia sudah makan atau belum, cemas apakah dia bahagia bila di samping kita. When you’ve been hurt or offended, sometimes it’s tempting to hold on to unforgiveness. But we have to remember, when people wrong us, our battle is not against flesh and blood. In other words, that person who hurt you is not the real enemy. The Bible says that your adversary is the devil, and he knows that if you don’t forgive, then your prayers won’t be effective. Unforgiveness puts up a barrier in your life to the power of God. In fact, if we don’t forgive others, we can’t be forgiven by God. But when you choose forgiveness, you open the door for God’s healing power to flow through your life. Disarm the enemy in your life today by choosing forgiveness. Bless those who curse you and pray for those who wrong you. Look at what Jesus did—when He was betrayed, beaten, mocked, and disrespected, He chose forgiveness. As you follow His example, you will open the door for God to move in your life, and you’ll live in victory in every area of your life!

Do you feel like you are walking through a tough place in your life today? When you walk through the “valley of weeping”, God is walking with you. He wants to strengthen and empower you to keep moving forward. He is leading you to a place of blessing and refreshing! Be encouraged today, it’s not over until God says it’s over, and He always causes us to triumph! The Bible says that weeping may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning! It also says that the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn shining brighter until the full day. No matter how dark your circumstance may seem, you are on a path that is shining brighter and brighter. Know today that there is a place of victory on the other side of your challenge. Keep believing and keep expecting. As you continue to meditate on the goodness of God and declare His favor in your life, you will be strengthened and refreshed in your inner man. When you turn to God, the Bible promises that you will find rest and refuge for your soul. No matter what you may be facing today, come to the Father. Just like the decision to receive salvation, when you choose to trust God, there is a peace that settles on the inside of your heart. There are blessings in store for you when you trust Him. No matter what you are facing in life today, you can have faith that God will come through for you. You can trust that His Word is always true. In Psalm 32, David calls God his “hiding place.” In other words, not only can you choose to trust God in the midst of your difficulty; you can actually hide in Him and find rest for your soul. When the circumstances of life seem to be overwhelming, choose to trust that God is ordering your steps. Find security in Him knowing that He’s making your crooked places straight and leading you into the everlasting life He has prepared for you!

If you think about how fruit grows, it doesn’t just happen over night; it takes time and the right conditions. In the same way, the spiritual fruit in your own life develops over time, too. You might be tempted to get discouraged if you aren’t seeing “fruit” as quickly as you’d like, but be encouraged today! If you’ll keep your heart humble before the Lord and stay connected to Him through prayer and studying His Word, you’ll see that fruit begin to form in your life just as He promised! But when we stop and quiet ourselves, when we find rest in Him, we will recognize His voice of hope. You’ll hear Him saying to your heart, “Your best days are still in front of you, you are more than a conqueror, you’re the head and not the tail.” As you receive His hope, it creates a foundation for faith to rise inside your heart. The Bible says that faith gives substance to things hoped for. In other words, your hope gives your faith something to work toward. If the cares of this world have left you frustrated and empty today, make the decision right now to open your heart and allow the Lord to deposit His hope on the inside of you. It doesn’t matter what you are facing today or what’s happened in your past, God wants to give you hope today. He wants to pour out His blessing in every area of your life so that you will live the abundant life He has for you!

Mustard Seed Faith

A mustard seed is a very small thing. But when it’s planted, it grows into a huge tree. In the same way, Jesus is saying that a little bit of faith can bring tremendous results! As a believer in Him, you already have enough faith on the inside of you to overcome any obstacle. The same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead actually dwells in you! It doesn’t matter if you grew up in church or not; it doesn’t matter what you know or don’t know; God wants to work in your life today. And you may not see how, but all you have to do is believe God. With God, all things are possible. Do you have mustard seed faith today? The Bible says that faith without works is dead. When you have faith, your words and actions reflect it. Take a step of faith today and declare your trust in Him. Even if you don’t see how, declare that God is working behind the scenes in your life. As you act on your mustard seed faith, you’ll see it grow stronger and stronger, and you will live in victory all the days of your life!

When David wrote this verse, He was in a very difficult situation. He was actually running for his life from his very own son who wanted to kill him and take over the throne! Can you imagine?! David was probably feeling overwhelmed, distraught, heart-broken, betrayed, and abandoned. Have you ever felt that way? But notice that David didn’t just tell the Lord all about his problems, he told the Lord about his faith when he said, “But you, God, are a shield around me…” David made the choice to focus on God’s goodness no matter what! We have to remember, circumstances may be tough, but God is working behind the scenes on your behalf. You may have a difficult relationship, but God is your Restorer today. You may have an overwhelming need, but God is your Provider today! The doctors may have told you that you have an incurable disease, but God is your Healer today! Things may look impossible today, BUT WITH GOD all things are possible! If you’ll keep that constant attitude of faith and victory, you’ll see the hand of God move in your life, and you will experience the life of victory He has in store for you!

We aren’t limited to the earth’s resources; we have unlimited spiritual resources by the Spirit of God. There are things in life that can’t happen by human thinking and reasoning. There are things that won’t be solved by natural power and might. But God is not limited by the resources of this world. When you open the door of faith in your heart, God will move through you in powerful ways by His Spirit. By His Spirit, you can overcome temptation. By His Spirit, you can receive healing. By His Spirit, you can fulfill every dream and desire in your heart. No matter what challenges or obstacles you may be facing today, know that you can live in complete victory by His Spirit!

God will supernaturally open and close doors to keep us on the path toward our destiny. He will “stir us” out of comfortable situations and stretch us because He loves us too much to allow us to live in mediocrity. Just like a mother eagle will stir her young, God will stir His children. Do you know how an eaglet learns to fly? That eagle will take her eaglet to the very highest point—way out of its comfort zone—and then she releases it. As the eaglet falls, the mother swoops down and picks it back up again. She does this over and over until the eaglet spreads its wings and soars through the air. That’s what God wants for you today. He wants you to soar in life! You might feel like that eaglet learning to fly, but know that God is right there with you! He’ll never leave you. Embrace God’s change today, knowing that He is using it to take you up higher so that you can live in victory all the days of your life!
